The Family Build
The Family Build
At Trinity Academy Leeds we know that when a school and a family work closely together the success and happiness of a young person is maximised. We are committed to working with you to help your child make the most of their time with us and to secure a successful and happy future after they leave our academy. You may know that your child will be completing a set of challenges called ‘The Build’. This inspired us to offer something linked to this for our parents/carers, the Family Build! Please take a look at the support, guidance and advice that we are offering to our TAL families below.

The Build Booklet
To help our students embody the TAL core values, they'll each be given a Build Booklet that lists 40 steps for them to complete. We'll then hold a ceremony at the end of Year 7 where students will be awarded gold, silver or bronze. Let's BUILD a brighter future!
View link‘The Build’ is our character curriculum, designed to facilitate holistic development, support academic attainment, positively influence attendance, enhance literacy and numeracy skills, positively influence behaviour and morality and expose students to a wide range of experiences. ‘The Build’ encourages our students to embody our core values of Empathy, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility whilst developing academic skills and contributing to our high aspirations and hardworking culture.
‘The Build’ will help to maintain good attendance and promotes academic achievement. Our students gain cultural capital in the form of knowledge, behaviours and skills. They will be exposed to activities and events that are rich in cultural capital and are likely to alter an individual’s habitus, allowing for social mobility. The effects of ‘The Build’ will reach far and wide, positively impacting our community and the families of our students. The impact is clear from the pictures provided. Our students are demonstrating our core values outside of our walls and are becoming proactive and positive citizens of our school and the local community.
Level 1 is completed in Year 7 and consists of 40 steps, culminating in an award ceremony at the end of the academic year to celebrate student achievements before moving on to Level 2 in Year 8 consisting of 30 steps. Students will progress to Level 3 in Year 9, Level 4 in Year 10 and Level 5 in Year 11. Each challenge will help students to grow stronger in body and mind and develop positive learning habits to enhance future success. As students progress through their academic career at TAL, ‘The Build’ will grow with them. By Year 11 ‘The Build’ will be an employability and careers tool, geared to promote success in their GCSE’s, further and higher education and life beyond education.
