Duke of Edinburgh (DofE)

At TAL we recognise the importance of experiences outside of the classroom for our young people. Completing the Duke of Edinburgh Award gives young people an internationally recognised certificate which is highly valued by employers and educational establishments. A Duke of Edinburgh programme is a real adventure from beginning to end. In KS3, through our Involve programme, students are provided with the opportunity to complete the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award. Some students have already had the opportunity to tackle the challenge of their Junior Duke of Edinburgh, enhanced by support from the Lloyds Banking Group.

Sections

Students achieve their award by completing a personal programme of activities in four sections – Volunteering, Physical, Skills and Expedition.

They will find themselves helping people or the community, gaining personal physical fitness, developing skills and going on an expedition.

The best bit is – you are allowed to choose what you do!

The programme can be full of activities and projects which provide experiences in activities that students may never have considered trying before, and along the way they will pick up friends, talents and memories that will stay with them for the rest of your life.

If you need any further information, talk to the academy’s DofE leader (Mr Trail). If you would like to find out more information please visit the DofE website.
