Mr Richard Gouland | Assistant Principal

As we start recruiting our Dream Team of teachers and support staff to TAL, I will be asking each of them to introduce themselves and to tell you a little bit about their background and interests. Only the most dedicated, hardworking, and talented individuals will be hired at our school. Very soon they will be familiar faces to you around our brand-new building.

We are delighted to introduce the latest member of the Trinity Academy Leeds team, Mr Richard Gouland, who will be joining us as Assistant Principal for Behaviour, Attendance and Safeguarding.

I am excited to be joining the Trinity MAT as Assistant Principal of Trinity Academy Leeds in September. I have been following the progress of the building work closely and cannot wait to see the finished product. Leeds Trinity Academy promises to be an incredible setting for our students to achieve their potential and will inspire a new generation of children in Leeds.

During my teaching career, I have worked in two secondary schools in the Leeds area. I have spent the last 7 years working in the East of Leeds as a Science specialist and recently as Head of Upper School. I am incredibly passionate that every child deserves a first-class education to not only achieve but surpass their potential.

One of the facts not lost on me is that the new Academy is located closely to the site of the former Burtons clothing factory, where many of my relatives, including my grandparents worked. My Grandparents lived in nearby Ebor Gardens, a stone’s throw from the new Academy and whilst I was just a young child when they lived there, I grew up hearing stories about going to school at St Charles, now St Patricks our neighbouring school and playing football on the fields close by.

Consequently, I am well aware of the history of the area which Trinity Academy will serve and the significant part local people have played in making Leeds the city it is today. I look forward to playing my part in supporting the community, especially the young people who join us to fulfil their ambitions, maximise their potential and in turn build on the rich legacy of the area. Away from school, I enjoy playing football and watching Leeds United back where they belong!
