Thank you to all the families that have been in touch, it has been great to hear so much enthusiasm and positivity about the new school. It has been a real pleasure to speak to so many of you personally and hear about the high aspirations that you have for your child’s future and their next step in education. Please do contact us through our website so that we can add you to our mailing list to ensure that you are the first to receive our latest information including details of exciting opportunities and the progress of the build. Please do leave your contact number also, if you would like to have a conversation about the school; I am happy to answer any questions that you might have personally. Thank you again for your interest and I hope that you enjoy reading the second edition of my blog!

Amazing progress on the build!
My weekly visits to the site are always exciting, it is great to see so much progress, and our school building taking shape. The site is a hive of activity and the outline of the main building and the sports centre are clear to see now. Meetings on site have covered discussions on the installation of the all-weather 3G pitch and the outside appearance of the school itself, my request to paint it all purple was sadly turned down! I did however, receive a gift to go with my hard hat, a pair of steel toe capped boots, again, a first!

And the winners are…
A massive thank you to all of you who took part in the first TAL Challenge, to create a design of the school’s motto, ‘Reach Higher, See Further, Shine Brighter.’ I was really impressed with the levels of effort and creativity that went into all the entries. I will be dropping off a very special prize to the winning students, at primaries this week. These huge Colour and Create Tubs will ensure that you keep being creative over half term! Our contracting team, Galliford Try, were so impressed that they are going to turn them into professionally printed posters to display at our site entrance, look out for them soon!

TAL Bug Challenge – you’ve got to be in it to win it!
I am delighted to launch my next TAL challenge! Those of you that follow us on social media will have seen our very own TAL bug in various different locations as he takes a well deserved half term break. We will be handing out TAL bugs to all local primaries this week, if you would like one, please let us have your address and we shall pop one in the post to you!

I am setting you the challenge of sending me a photograph of your TAL bug doing one of your favourite activities. This could be dancing, playing football, reading, eating pizza or watching your favourite television show, again, the more creative the better. All photographs need to be sent to the usual email address by Monday 1st November. Winning entries will win another fantastic prize. Good luck!

School travel update
The Local Authority has encouraged us to have a city-wide catchment, and we are generating interest from across Leeds and beyond! We are currently looking at bus routes to ensure safe travel to our school and these will be finalised once we know the destinations of our first Year 7 cohort.

Don’t miss out!
A reminder that the deadline for High School applications is the 31st October, all forms can be completed and preferences amended up until this time.
