Principal’s Blog: Welcome!

Welcome to the first edition of my Principal’s Blog, hopefully an informative and interesting update on our journey to opening Trinity Academy Leeds!

It has been absolutely brilliant to meet so many parents/carers and prospective students over the last few weeks. Thank you to all who attended one of our presentations at the Old Fire Station, a local Primary or joined a webinar session. We still have places left to join our latest series of webinars, where I will be sharing the latest information on the school’s progress and can answer any specific questions that you may have. Please check out our Information Events page for more details.

We are also on social media, we’d love to see as many of our Trinity Academy Leeds family on there as possible! Follow us on Twitter, find us on Facebook and see us on Instagram.

It was great to speak with some of you at the school gate and hopefully you have been able to make use of the goody bag and its contents that we have been handing out. If you have not received a goody bag but would like one, please email us we’ll drop one in to your child’s Primary School.

Construction at the site is moving at speed! This is the first time I have donned a hard hat – a good job that I am so passionate about the school! The foundations are being levelled out and soon the frame of the building will start to appear, we are hoping to link our website to a camera on the site so that we can all keep a close eye on developments.

We were delighted at the positive comments about our uniform. A number of you have been asking about the ‘famous’ tartan skirt, the fabric has now arrived and the skirt is being made as we speak. I may well be asking for some models from our future Year 7 cohort to try it on for size, watch out for updates!

Speaking of our future Year 7, it has been really lovely to meet so many enthusiastic and well-behaved young people. Myself and the wider team at Trinity Academy Leeds, can’t wait to welcome you all into the Trinity MAT family in September. If you have chosen us to be your school, please expect lots more information when the applications round closes (31st October) and our transition programme begins! If you haven’t yet, see how to apply now!

Year 6 Challenge!
At the end of each one of my blogs, I will be setting a challenge for our future students! These are designed to get you thinking in addition to being fun and getting your creative juices flowing. You may know that our school motto is, ‘Reach Higher, See Further, Shine Brighter.’ I challenge you to come up with a creative way of showcasing this, or what this means to you. You can take one part of the motto or all of it, you can use photography, art skills, poetry, paint, even baking, to create an image of our logo. The choice is yours, the more creative the better!

If you would like to accept my challenge, please email a photograph of your completed work/picture to contactus@leeds.trinitymat.org by Wednesday the 14th October, including your name and your Primary School. All entrants will be used as part of our social media campaign and we will be asking some of our current Year 7 students from one of our MAT schools to judge the best five. Winners will receive a special prize that I will drop off at your school – good luck and get creative!
